$1289.33 New Prescription... No Way!!!!!!

October 29th, 2014 at 03:26 pm

Without saying anything to me, my doctor changed my diabetes medicine. She called in a new prescription for me. I got a message in my email that a new prescription was being processed. I checked online to see what that was all about. A new prescription for Actoplus Met XR was ordered by my doctor. I googled the name and came up with some frightening serious side effects. Then my phone rings and it is the pharmacy calling to get an approval to charge me for the drug. They said it was $1289.33 . I currently pay $10.00 for a three month supply of my Metformin diabetes medicine. I nicely declined the new medicine!

Tell your doctor--she probably doesn't know. Stay well.

I find it very disturbing whether the doctor intentionally changed your meds withough telling you or did so accidentally.

Makes you wonder! A friend of mine came right out and asked her doctor if he received a kick back from the prescriptions he wrote and the doctor admitted that he did. Made me wonder if that is why my doctor prescribed such an expensive drug for me. I tend to believe she had no idea it was that expensive...but I will see what she has to say when I tell her how much it was and that I did not get it.

I totally agree about the kickback thing. I would probably being calling the doctor to give her a piece of my mind. Why else would she change the prescription without telling you? If the old drug was working for you, that's just ridiculous.
